Researchers
The Mathematics for Mapping and Monitoring team has extensive experience with the calibration and analysis of
long term sequences of images to determine trends in spectral indices and changes in land
cover over time. The team uses statistical techniques which enable images from different
acquisition dates to be compared.
The team has experience in the classification of images, using both traditional and
novel approaches (such as neighbourhood-modified classifiers, decision tree classifiers,
neural networks and expert systems) to integrate remotely sensed data with other spatial
data.
The team has skills with geographical information systems (GIS) for data management,
data integration and the derivation of value-added products. Many techniques have been
developed in-house and can be tailored for specific analyses.
