Handling dimensionality

Images have dimensionality, they can be 1D, 2D, 3D etc. Ideally all LIAR functions should work with 3D images. However, this is impractical for certain functions. Therefore, the LIAR philosophy for handling images of varying dimensions is that any function written for the n dimensional case shall automatically handle all images of less than n dimensions correctly. For example, a 2D image can be considered as a 3D image with only 1 image plane. A 1D image is considered to be a 3D image with only 1 plane and 1 row.
