Perhaps
the greatest challenge facing human society is climate
change. The impact of droughts and floods can be
devastating, so tools to predict their occurrence and
magnitude are of great importance.
The
Hydro-Climate Informatics Group is developing new
information tools to quantify the extent of future
climate change, and to make this information available
to decision makers engaged in long term planning.
Historically
climate research has focused either on using
statistical models of observations of the climate
system or developing computer-based models. Our
research focus is quite different as we are developing
methods to couple statistical models for observations
with physical models.
Our
research work is aligned with three key science
themes:
- Forecasting climate extremes in time and space
- Nonlinear modelling techniques
- Highly Structured Stochastic Systems

to speak with potential collaborators and clients.
