Courses Proposed for 2010-2011

CSIRO is working with the Logistics Association of Australia and other peak bodies in Australia and overseas, to construct a varied series of short courses on supply chain and logistics topics.

The following courses are proposed for 2010-2011: we are currently inviting expressions of interest from potential participants and presenters.

  • Introduction to Logistics - run over a series of evening sessions, and covering the fundamentals of logistics theory and practice in Australia.
  • Optimised warehousing and distribution - a short course concentrating on advanced topics in warehouse design, layout, picking processes/systems and inventory management. At the heart of this course will be the material delivered by Professor John Bartholdi at our Integrated Logistics and Supply Chain Management course in May 2008.

  • Business cases for distributed energy generation - are you part of a manufacturing or logistics operation that is interested in adopting localised, alternative energy sources? Need help in establishing a business case for investment in low-carbon energy technologies such as cogeneration, solar and wind power? In this course, CSIRO scientists and other Australian experts aim to provide you with the necessary tools for examining and quantifying the potential for distributed energy generation in your business.

Courses in 2008

The Integrated Logistics and Supply Chain Management course was held in May 2008. It was a new executive education course that aimed to provide a comprehensive coverage of the supply chain configurations and decision making processes that distinguish high performance supply chain oriented enterprises. CSIRO and the Logistics Association of Australia were proud to offer this three day executive education programme, that featured Lew Roberts and Professor John Bartholdi (see biographies and news about the activities and achievements of the course presenters).
