Adaptive Supply Networks - about us

The CSIRO Adaptive Supply Networks (ASN) team applies statistical, optimisation and simulation expertise to investment and coordination challenges in production, transport and supply chains. We engage with end-users and deliver analysis and operations-management technologies.

We undertake modelling that captures the decision-making, material-transformation and uncertainty-management processes in resource-constrained industrial systems. This modelling is core to developing smart operations management software as well as futures analysis tools for generating quantitative insights into the performance of planned or transformed industrial systems (i.e. transport, production facilities or supply chains). The futures analysis tools inform investments in capital and changes in operating policies/protocols which can dramatically affect the way a supply chain will perform physically and economically.

Our research focuses on creating decision-making processes and software tools that can make adaptive supply networks a reality for Australian businesses. Our research is relevant to the needs of many industry sectors. Our current foci are logistics and resource management in agriculture (especially wine supply chains), health, minerals supply chains and transport infrastructure planning.
