Business Services
CSIRO provides the quantitative information tools businesses need to
optimise operations through specialist expertise in data analysis, data
synthesis, mathematical modelling, simulation and optimisation.
Managers in the services sector are faced with a deluge of data about
their processes and their operations. These data drive and underpin
activities such as scenario planning, quality control, equipment design,
buy-or-sell decisions and more.
Our experience in developing information tools and products using data
analysis along with mathematical modelling, simulation and optimisation,
allows decision makers to understand their data and make reliable,
productive and informed decisions about their business.
We conduct research that underpins the transformation of data into
information tools using mathematical and statistical techniques. Some
examples:
Adaptive Supply Networks
CSIRO’s R&D program in Adaptive Supply Networks (ASN) offers businesses
new technologies for controllable, robust and efficient supply chain
management.
Adaptive Supply Networks are networks of business partners who
cooperatively and collaboratively perceive and proactively counter changes
in their operational environment to ensure coordinated flow of resources,
goods, services and information. ASN technologies are designed for
collaborative decision-making in networks where participants
may exhibit appreciable diversity in capabilities and business
goals.
The expected benefits to industries adopting ASN technologies
include:
- More controllable, robust and efficient operations
- Increased compliance with agreed decisions
- Increased revenue and reduced costs for all participants
- Increased competitive advantage and reduced risk for all
participants
